Libido: It's a Terrible Thing to Waste

"Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women," Huckabee told his audience at the Republican National Committee's winter meeting in downtown Washington. "That's not a war on them. It's a war for them. And if the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control, because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it." [Huffington Post]

Mr Huckabee is at a loss to understand why his comments were so misrepresented by the liberal media. He was simply reminding his GOP friends that it's the Democratic Party that's sexualizing American women by focusing solely on their reproductive needs rather than their more noble position as nurturing mothers and obedient wives. Mr Huckabee's ignorance, not to mention his Victorian morality, blinds him to the importance of control over one's reproductive cycle as a requirement to establishing a stable family and to the pursuit of a successful career - should one choose so to do. For Mr. Huckabee, and many of his GOP faithful, discussions over reproductive choice trigger deeply repressed sexual feelings that manifest themselves in illogical or nonsensical statements like those he made at the recent RNC meeting.  "Such fanatically aggressive opposition to sex can only occur among people who are fanatically obsessed with sex," (David Stannard, American Holocaust). Mr. Huckabee and the GOP believe in the importance of small government - except when it comes to women's reproductive choice.

Enter the Farce

Sound and Fury

I was shocked at the outpouring of racist tweets and emails following Richard Sherman's spirited outburst.

Once again, there's nothing like an outspoken black man to enrage the racist peckerwoods whose only exceptional trait is their ability to grunt with their gobs full of cheap beer and Cheetoes.

There's no doubting Sherman's athletic skill; however, a touch of humility could have better served him.
