guerre, c'est l'enfer

"This is a wonderful example of bringing together two different levels of association, with a tiny bit of disparagement against the French, which is always enjoyable," says Mankoff with a wink. "Normally it'd be a Swiss army knife but here it's French so it's all corkscrews. It's saying they like wine, which isn't too bad. It's not saying they're not inveterate alcoholics. Ethernet Rules

I had a customer the other day that needed a piece of lumber cut. When I asked him the length to which the board should be cut he reached into his pocket and pulled out an Ethernet cable.

"I need it to be cut this long," he said showing me the mark he had made on the cable.

"36 1/4 inches," I said after measuring his cable with my tape measure.

"Let me guess," I asked, "You must be a software guy?"
