Tea Parties: Citizen Protest or Racist Revival?

Valid protest against President Obama's health care plan or ugly racist imagery?

Even the First Lady is not immune to the racist tea baggers.

These racist tea baggers are America's greatest shame. Let's hope their collected bigotry quickly turns inward and consumes itself before any lasting damage is done
. Real patriots support an America that protects all its citizens.

There is no reason for anyone to see this image and cry "racism!" There are TONS of images of famous people that have been photoshopped on the internet. Besides, human beings are apes ARE closely related. ALL human beings. Not just blacks. This is not an issue of racism. This is just yet another outbreak of people complaining about stupid bullshit when there are so many real important issues that need attention.

Anonymous, I suggest you drop your comic book long enough to read about the history of racism in America. From the time the first slaves arrived in America, they were stereotyped as ape-like savages. That you fail to see the racism in depicting President Obama as a savage with a bone in his nose can only suggest that you’ve either grown up having little or no contact with minorities or that you do believe that blacks are not far removed from the jungle. If you wish to understand why I consider these photos to be in poor taste, imagine if all Southern men were shown as dimwits with no more than 2 teeth, or that all Irish were shown as skid-row alcoholics, or that all Italians were shown as greasy mobsters. Imagine what Christians would feel if Christ was shown as a junkie with a needle in his arm? Images are very powerful in perpetuating myths. Portraying the first black president as a jungle savage is not as you call it, “stupid bullshit.”

By the way, freedom of speech does not exempt one from ridicule or from accusations of promoting racist or hateful beliefs. You may now return to your comic books.

I would like ypou to leave these images up. We cannot accuse the tea party of racism if we cannot document it. In fact, I wish these images had citation about who used them, when and where as I am looking for good solid documentation of racism in tea party to back up a a statment I made in a debate with them
